Sustainability and community support are at the core of what we do here at The Crafty Shrimp. That is why we are absolutely blown away by the turnout for our First Annual Craft Supply Swap! What started as an idea to clear out our own overflowing supply closets turned into a massive, community-wide upcycling event.

The Final Numbers

Thanks to your generosity, the swap was a resounding success:

  • Over 500 lbs of yarn, fabric, and textile scraps were exchanged.

  • 120+ participants walked through the doors.

  • 4 large donation bins of leftover, high-quality supplies were delivered to the local public school district’s art department.

One Maker’s Trash is Another Maker’s Treasure

It was incredible to watch how materials were reimagined. We saw a jewelry maker trade a box of vintage glass beads for a set of leatherworking stamps, and a painter swap half-empty tubes of expensive oils for a stack of blank watercolor paper.

By trading instead of buying new, we not only saved money but kept perfectly good materials out of the landfill. Due to the overwhelming demand, we are officially making the Supply Swap a bi-annual event. Keep an eye on our newsletter for the fall dates!
